Transformers Recs: Epic Crack

katharosOkay, so. One of my favourite kind of fics are the ones that take a premise that is pure crack, admits its pure crack, and then goes: okay, so: if we presume that this actually happened, and the characters actually retained their characterisation, what would happen next?
I guess that was why I was so disappointed by Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I was expecting Elizabeth and Darcy dealing with a Zombie apocalypse. What we got was a series of thin zombie and vomit jokes that were tired by the end of the first chapter and a sociapathic Lizzy who failed to exhibit any character at all.
Fandom does it right. :D
Ghosts of Cybertron bychildofatlantis and raisedbymoogles
What with exorcisms, possession, and the occasional kidnapping, it's a wonder Rodimus Prime gets any work done. Especially with a ghostly Starscream making trouble around the base. But when the stirring of Cybertron's restless dead isn't limited to sarcastic ex-Seekers... Who you gonna call?
This was the first Season 3 fic I read and it was actually the perfect introduction! And a gentle way of letting me know that several beloved characters join the matrix... It is one of my happy making fics! I adore Starscream, obnoxious and outrageous, and I adore every single one of the autobots here, adorable dorks that they are. It's a series of almost drabbles, various encounters between Starscream (whose moved into the Autobot's base) and the autobots, each of which is perfectly hilarious (every bit of the interaction between Starscream, Skyfire and Silverbolt! Just perfect) with moments of emotional seriousness and pognancy that hit even harder for their location amid the crack and Starscream sexing his way through the base. And then plot shows up and it is Good.
Trials of a Seeker by Sorciere
Will gets turned into a Seeker. Things really go downhill from there.
I actually avoided this fic for ages because it sounded a bit too out there but then I gave it a go and it had me from the first paragraph! Primus brings Will back from the dead in the body of a Seeker and then the author proceeds to pile almost every bit of Seeker-fanon the fandom has ever come up with onto the poor bastard. And it is glorious. And painful - she does a really good job or taking what all that would actually mean for a human dumped into unexpectedly - while also being hilarious. And Ironhide is adorable. And Sarah is awesome.
Werecars of Cybertron by Dragon of Dispair
2007 movieverse. mostly pre-war and pre-earth: some archetypes are universal. some legends transcend species. and sometimes there's nothing left to do but out race the moons. WIP
...this might be one of my favourite Transformers fics ever? Don't be put off by the Were Cars! Give it a try! It's - okay, best way to describe it. Think of one of those dark urban fantasy romances with werewolves and gratuitous pack politics and murder investigations and spunky heroine determindly going after the truth while have raging sexual tension with a high ranking werewolf? Okay, now replace 'heroine' with Prowl. A Prowl so perfectly in character in hurts. It is a thing of pure joy; I love the characterisation, the world-building going on here (weres are Unicron cursed! There are a pair of were-jets hanging around the city called Skyfire and Starscream!) I cannot wait to see where it ends up and it's just recently been updated again!
CSI: Ark by MoonMadKitty
Oh no! Someone's murdered Bluestreak! Well, not really. No problem, Jazz is on the case! Can he solve the Murder Mystery before Prowl forces him to attend staff meetings for the rest of the month?
I'm not sure whether this really counts as crack!fic because the premise is something that could actually be plausible within universe. But I love it so much I just want an excuse to rec it, and it's got the lovely, zany tone to it that crack fic does. I love it because it makes me ache with laughter every time I read it and because it'd one of the best, most complete ensemble fics I've seen in the fandom. I think almost every Autobot gets at least a small bit part in this fic, and every single one is perfect.

During Cybertronian 'peace,' ex-Cons hide the sentience of and sell humans as pets to secure Earth. Sam and Mikaela might just be the first to grasp the reality of the situation alongside their new owner. WIP
This fic has a slightly more serious tone to it than the ones recced above - the humour comes more from the situations. I found the first few chapters fairly slow but once Sam and Mikaela were bought by Bumblebee the pace picked up a little and it's just fun to see things from the mech's points of view. The writer's obviously put a lot of thought into this scenario and the more the little world building details are revealed the more plausible it gets. It looks like the plot is about to really pick up speed now and I'm looking forward to the various revelations! I also find myself thinking 'I want a pet human!' after each new chapter. :p
The Sum of Our Parts by Meiza WIP
Human friends of the Autobots have been turning up missing or dead. Several months later, new Decepticons have been appearing with disturbingly familiar personalities...
This is the fic that really taught me to love some of the G1 humns. It's a really great ensemble fic with a dastardly Decepticon plot and various plot threads that have got me on the edge of my seat. It's really hard to say anymore without spoiling so. Go! Read!
Teaching New Bots Old Tricks byjustbolts WIP NSFW
After the AllSpark's destruction, it was thought to be the end of the Cybertronian race. But there is another way -- a method of reproduction not practiced in hundreds of thousands of years and known only to the oldest mechs. Now it is up to them to instruct the clueless younger generation with a very hands on approach.
Okay, so. This is another one where I'm not sure it counts as crack because IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE. But I want to rec it and it has that cheerful feel of good crack and Ratchet gives The Talk with ANIMATIONS so I'm reccing it! Cause it's oldpeople mechs being awesome. And sexy. And pwning the younger generation who are giving this whole 'sex' thing dubious looks. And its Ratchet and Ironhide being crotchety and generally awesome and Optimus and Ironhide being totes boyfriends and. Something about the blend of Saving the Speciies and Sex Ed and hothot porn that makes this just the bestest thing ever.
