So in what is beginning to become a tradition [livejournal.com profile] lycoris came over to watch the new Doctor Who, and brought an episode of the old Doctor Who with her. (possible spoilers behind cuts)

The Second Doctor is [livejournal.com profile] lycoris's favourite doctor, and although i really haven't seen enough of the others to be able to say I think he is (apart from the new ones) becoming mine as well. He just has the most beautiful reaction shots, and such an expressive face.

And he has the cutest companion in Jamie, a Highland lad in a kilt whom [livejournal.com profile] lycoris and I spent most of the episode cooing over. (And snarking about fanboys' approval of the sparkly catsuit the female companion was wearing, although given the way we were squeeing every time Jamie clung to the Doctor I don't think we really had a leg to stand on.)Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And the episode was just wonderful with all the puns and the word games and the meta fiction that had me melting into a puddle of book geek glee. And there was Gulliver wandering around and creepy children singing and a serial from from the 20s starring Jack Harkeney.

So yes, I was in the perfect mood to move on to

If I quoted everything I loved about this episode I would break lj. So let me just say I love Renette. So, so much. And I cried at the end.

And also the oncoming storm of bad drunken singing And the horse! We're not keeping the horse. And the horse smashing through the mirror. And the references back to the last episodes this guy wrote - Empty Child and the Doctor Dances with the bananas and the "I'm not your Mummy" and the dancing. And oh dear god was I glad that my beds base comes down to the floor. And that my clock is digital with no ticking. I was actually able to get to sleep thanks to that.

"I'm the King of France."
"I'm the Lord of Time." ♥

So after all that classic hide behind the sofa, rip your heart out and stomp on the little shattered bits of Doctor Who-ness, time for

I kept making funny noises all throughout this episode. I just couldn't stop. Oh god, I love this series so much! Just the twins, and the complete over the topness, and the black magic president and the few, little moments where it's clear they all care about each other even as they drive each other up the walls. And Kyouya of the evil smiling. ;hearts&

Now I face a dilemma. I have manga up to volume 3. Should I read it all now, or wait and watch the anime as it comes out? Since this is actually one of the few occasions when I prefer the anime to the manga - I mean, apart from all the prettiness and pretty voices, it just seems better paced and the jokes better timed. So do I really want to spoil myself on all the punch lines? *indesisive.*
