For the past few days I've been trying to write a simple drabble, of Ritsuka and Soubi in Florence viewing Michalangelo's David. But I keep tripping over one eensy tiny little detail.

Would Michalangelo have sculpted David with or without his ears?

Without.

But David is supposed to convey the innocent strength of youth... so, ears? And he's a virtuos (supposedly) biblical figure, so wouldn't he be perceived as still having his ears?

*growls* I'd probably need a classical education to answer this question.

Maybe it has a card somewhere that says "the ears were added later"?
