The sky outside my window is beautiful right now; it's all pale blue/grey of dusk, thick with whisps of pink clouds.

I went to a Manga Night at Ottaker's bookshop with

lycoris tonight; really good fun, and far busier than I expected. Who would have thought there was so many manga fans living around here? We all came crawling out of the woodwork tonight! We basically all stood around chatting like the geeks we are, snacking on pocky and browsing through the manga the shop had 'helpfully' laid out for us. I finally caved and bought the first three Vampre Game. And one called Immortal Rain since you got one free with four; still not quite sure what it's about but it looks pretty!

There was a guy from Tokyo Pop there, running the whole thing. I forced our cowardly anime soc President into meeting him, and as a result we are going to get freebies and sneak previews! *Thoughtful* You, know, I could definetly see myself as a shadow king... I also pinned the tokyopop guy down about Loveless; apparently they're releasing it every three months, and they're bringing it over here in september! Yay! He said that they weren't originally planning on releasing it in England, but since it's been so much more sucessful than they expected in the states they are! So thank you to anyone who bought Loveless in the states; I'm going to have catboys soon...

There was also a quiz, with prizes; 15 multiple choice questions on tokyopop manga and japanese culture. Me: yay! Time to win some prizes!

The only series I recognised was Saiyuki. I hadn't even heard of some of the others! And there were only about three questions on Japanese culture, one of which was what 'Sakura' meant. Going by the derisive laughter that greeted the wrong answers, I don't think anyone there had any trouble getting that one. Though I think the quiz designers could have done better with the other choices. Really, vending machine?

But I did win a prize in the end! There was a prize draw, and I won the first volume of a manga called 'Sergeant Frog.' People assure me it's hilarious.

Oh, and one more thing; tokyopop guy told us this manga called Priest is going to be made into a film. Starring Viggo Mortesen. Apparently slated for the back end of 2007. He also listed a few other manga that are going to be made into films, but the one that stuck in my mind was Petshop of Horrors. Petshop of Horrors film. Oh please please please...

In the time it's taken me to write this the pink clouds have disappeared and the sky is a deep grey blue. So time to go write the fic for my second day of the Fic a Day challenge! Yes, I'm doing it again. Yes, I'm unbalanced.
