My Friday the The Thirteenth Litany.
May. 14th, 2005 04:18 pmI've nevertruly had a Friday the Thirteenth before this.
In chronological order...
1. I learnt that my creative writing portfolio, which I had been slaving over editing all week in the firm expectation of handing it in on friday, turns out to be due in next friday.
2. I come home for the weekend. My dad picks me up at the station. He tells me my rabbit died that morning
3. The reason I came home this weekend, in the middle of the exam season, was to go to the Rod Stewart Concert in Birmigham. Rod Stewart is ill and the concert is postponed.
4. I left my mefanamic acid at university.
And unapologetic glaoting about the single good thing to happen yesterday...
I've been loooking for Petshop of Horrors for ages. The only places around here that carry manga are Borders and Ottakers. (I know there's Amazon but just picking it up a in a bookstore you can convince yourself it's an impulse buy. amazon's unquestioably premediated.)
But there's this wonderful little shop which has loads of brand new books for ridculously cheap prices, and today when I wandered in... they had a whole stack of manga! Including first volume Petshop of Horrors! *Huggles manga*
Pretty pretty art... text translations truly are know substitute... although I'm going to be checking the paid, Tokyo pop translations against the fan ones. They have D saying 'Aww, Officer, where's the trust?' That just can not be right...
The pictures of dead bunnies with the babies eating thier way out of thier stomachs was, um, not an image I would have chosen to have been looking at just before meeting up with dad...

Date: 2005-05-14 09:59 pm (UTC)I had heard! *praying very hard for Leon to turn up.* Been poking around for the scanlations I've heard are out there - no luck yet.
My sister was equally freaked out - although she continued reading.Honestly though, I found the first story with the song-bird the most disturbing.

Date: 2005-05-14 11:15 pm (UTC)The songbird one was disturbing, it was just the image of the bunnies bursting out of the girl's stomach and then eating each other that was so disturbing. The first story wasn't as graphic so I wasn't as revolted. The stories get less freaky as the series progress, at least up to book 6 which is how far I've read up to. They also get harder to figure out, at least in my opinion. The first book was much more straight-forward. How far have you read in PSOH and did you get any other manga from the store?
