I wonder if the Turkish Delight industry ever curses the name of CS Lewis? I know I never ate the stuff when I was the kid cause it was teh evil.

Any publicity is good publicity! I'd never have heard of Turkish Delights if it weren't for CS Lewis. (Though after you try one, you wonder what the big deal is. ^^; They're pretty much gooey gobs of powdered white sugar. I guess in England during the Blitz, that much sugar was a big deal, but they don't really stack up to modern candy.)

Huh. The Turkish Delight I know best is the gooey florescent purple jelly Cadbury's sells. I wonder what CS Lewis was picturing?

See, I always wanted to eat the stuff when I was little because of C. S. Lewis! (then I did and thought it was HORRIBLE so was sadly thawrted) Perhaps this says something about me ...

It says that the universe is trying to protect you from evil temptation by making it not actually that tempting after all?

*laughs* I like that idea. Why could it not stick to that in later years?

I'm the same as lycoris...except I both wanted it and knew I couldn't stand it because my mum loves chocolate-coated-turkish delight and I already knew I didn't like it. lol. When we read it as a class book in school the teacher bought us all a piece of turkish delight.

But then I always kind of liked Edmund. Peter always annoyed me.

I do love Edmund, but I love Peter too! I love it most when they're being brothers together.

CS Lewis gave me this perception of Turkish Delight as some kind of sweet ravioli. I was a bit disappointed by the real thing...

It is kind of tasteless isn't it? I was enticed by the purple...

Yes, I think I was too! It tastes weird IMO. Like... it makes me think of roses.
