Senbatsu grumblings

katharosJust watched eps 149-150 of PoT. And, well, I spent most of my time screeching at the screen "it's a girl!" Because it is And can we say inappropriate touching between siblings? And camera angles lingering over said inappropriate touching?
But, you know, I'm dissapointed with the senbatsu arc overall. They could have taken more advantage of the setup, couldn't they? Yes, it's over the top and cracky but... they could have done so much more with it. Couldn't they have taken advantge of the fact that these are top american players? And that until very recently Ryoma was a top american player? There's Kevin, but really that's just another rival story with added Nanjiroh. They could have had things like:
American team member: Waugh! *scrambles back, manages to fall on his butt, levels one trembling finger* E-Echizen Ryoma!
American team: *Puts their hands over their eyes*
Japan team: *stare*
Kikumaru: *Leaning over* Ochibi? You know him?
Ryoma: *smirks*
And after the mtaches are done...
Terry: *glomp* Ryoma!
Ryoma: Get off me!
Kikumaru: You know Ochibi?
Terry: Course we know kiddo!
Momo: *Grinning* Really? Got any embarrasing stories?
Tom: *concluding* and that's why that referee still screams to this day at the mere mention of sun tan lotion.
Inui: *sribbling industriusly*
Momo: *fascinated* Do you know any more?
Tom: Well there was the time...
Ryoma: *gives everyone filthy looks*
And now everyone's more comfortable with each other...
Terry: Oh, and what about that time he won fifty dollars off that mafia guy?
Seigaku: *Blinks in confusion*
Tom: *Ignoring Ryoma's frantic gestures* He's such a pool shark.
Seigaku: Pool shark?!
Terry: *nods, apparently oblivious to rising levels of disbelief.* It's just beautiful, the way he plays the clueless novice then totally fleeces the other guy.
Fuji: *sharp smile* Echizen...
Ryoma: tugs at his cap and sidles behind Tezuka.
(I refuse to believe Ryoma could have got good enough to beat Fuji at anything over the course of one afternoon)
